Curriculum Highlights (by grade level)

Kindergarten/First Grade

  • Students master beginning computer skills in a controlled environment. (Logging on/off, tabs, mouse/touchpad, basic keyboard commands, etc.)

  • Students apply computer skills while reviewing reading and math skills with selected sites accessed via Chromebooks.


Second - Fourth Grades

  • Students master basic computer skills and vocabulary. (URLs, bookmarks, keyboard shortcuts, scrolling, Internet, managing menus, usernames/safe passwords, etc.)

  • Students learn basic keyboarding skills in a self-paced program designed to increase typing accuracy and speed (words per minute.)

  • Student develop an understanding of digital citizenship and cyber safety.

  • Students are introduced to the Google Classroom, a learning management system.


5th-8th Grade

  • Students master computer skills and vocabulary. (URLs, bookmarks, advanced keyboard shortcuts, managing apps and graphics, etc.)

  • Students master keyboarding skills in a self-paced program designed to increase typing accuracy and speed (words per minute.)

  • Student develop an understanding of digital citizenship, cyber safety, and how personal digital footprints affect their futures.

  • Students learn to manage documents and files, including spreadsheets.

  • Students use the Google Classroom, a learning management system, to submit content area classwork, homework, and to explore the connections between technology and career choices.
